Screenworks member Clare Sladden is going into production on a web series and is seeking interest and support for crew, cast and locations.

Damned if you do, Damned if you don’t is a six-part comedy web-series that will be filmed in Broken Head in mid-December. Based on the Tropfest shortlisted film, First Date DilemmaDamned if you do, Damned if you don’t takes a look at real-life dating dilemmas, focusing on the unspoken, internal debates that rage in psyches of modern women (and men).

Clare is seeking unpaid interns and volunteers who would like to get involved in this production.

The series will bring together comedic acting talent from all over Australia, including Benjamin Law (The Family Law), Elise Jansen (Wonderland, Predestination, Underbelly) and Amy Ingram (Mabo, Doing Time). Damned if you do, Damned if you don’t is written and directed by Clare Sladden: Clare’s debut short film Consent, has screened at numerous international film festivals – most notably, the 2017 Palm Springs International ShortFest. Clare won an IndieFest Award of Excellence, a Gold Remi at the Worldfest Houston International Film Festival, and the Women in Film & Television Award at Freshflix as a part of Vivid. Clare was also a semi-finalist in the prestigious Academy Nicholl Fellowship in 2017 with her screenplay, Broken Head, has placed in numerous international screenwriting competitions, and was a finalist in the 2014 Cinestory Fellowship with her first screenplay, Always The Dressmaker.

Crew opportunities

Social media intern: the right candidate will have a passion for social media, and the ability to work unsupervised. There will be an opportunity to manage on-set, scripted social media video content, so a working knowledge of cameras (video and stills) is a must.
Production assistant/intern: assisting producers Clare & Lewis in the day-to-day of pre-production, and then on the set during production, this role would suit someone who is organised and is committed to building a career in film.
Production designer/intern: if you have a passion for production design, and an eye for detail, this position is for you! You’ll work with the director to dress the sets, and be on-set for continuity. If you also have an interest in costume design, the opportunity exists to help conceptualise and build interesting, unique costumes from the ground up!
Boom swinger: you will have the opportunity to work under a highly experienced sound professional. This is a great opportunity for someone interested in sound, who wants to up-skill and learn on the job.

Casting opportunities

Pregnant woman: we’re looking for someone who will be in their third trimester in mid-December. The role is non-speaking, but there is a heavy focus on reactions/facial expressions, so acting experience would be ideal.
Woman with baby: we’re looking for someone to play a new mother with a screaming baby (baby and screams will be fake) so acting experience would be ideal.

Location opportunities

Big bathroom: we are looking for a *big* bathroom to shoot two episodes in (approximately 6 hours of filming). The bathroom must be big enough to accomodate three cast, two cameras and up to seven crew (so basically, we need to be able to fit 10 people and two cameras comfortably).

Information will be updated on Broken Head Productions facebook page.
