As part of Screenworks’ vision to create a networked regional screen industry with one strong voice, Screenworks changed its membership structure as detailed below.  Changes took effect from April 30 2018.

As a Screenworks member you are part of a vibrant and networked regional Australian screen industry represented by Screenworks as one strong voice.

You will benefit from Screenworks representing screen industry practitioners of regional Australia* at a state, national and international level, creating industry connections and advocating regional screen industry development.

Screenworks membership offers access to many benefits and we’re constantly working to bring you more.  Current benefits include:

  • Full Screenworks members can set up a profile listing on Screenworks’ online Member Directory* (*excluding Friends, Fledgling and Metro members)
  • Referrals for work opportunities* (*excluding Friends, Fledgling and Metro members)
  • Free access to Australians in Film (AiF) International Industry membership including discounted entry into all AiF education and career development programs. After joining Screenworks membership should contact AiF via email (membership@australiansinfilm.org).
  • Discounted insurance available from GALVANiiZE Insurance (contact David McEwan directly on 0404 544 268 or david@galvaniize.com.au after you have joined up as a member)
  • Discounted health insurance from Australian Unity & GALVANiiZE Insurance (contact Australian Unity on 1800 224 244  and mention GALVANiiZE Insurance to get the discount and broader cover)

  • Invitation to exclusive member-only events, VIP and networking functions
  • Members discounts for Screenworks events, seminars and professional development opportunities
  • Eligibility to apply to advertise your event or project in Screenworks e-newsletter

When you become a member via Paypal, you will set up an annual recurring payment so that your membership will be renewed each year. You will be able to cancel this recurring payment at anytime simply by following the instructions and links sent to you by Paypal after the recurring payment has been set up. NOTE: New Screenworks membership applications are determined by the Screenworks board at the next bi-monthly meeting after the online application has been received. Screenworks will send a confirmation email after the application has been approved or rejected.

MEMBERSHIP TYPES

Full Screenworks Membership Categories

  • Regional Established Professional – annual fee $70
    • A professional screen practitioner living in regional Australia earning an income from their work with broadcast credits and/or acceptance into A list festivals and/or theatrical release into major national or international cinemas
    • receive full membership benefits.
  • Regional Emerging Professional – annual fee $45
    • A screen industry practitioner living in regional Australia with short films credits or a derive an income from creating corporate films
    • receive full membership benefits.
  • Regional Business / Organisation – annual fee $220
    • Open to organisations based in regional Australia who are working in or provide services to the regional screen industry and screen cultural activities including full service production companies, accommodation providers or advertising agencies.
    • receive one listing in the Screenworks member directory and up to 4 nominated staff members within the organisation will be eligible to receive full membership benefits.

Fledgling Screenworks Membership Categories

  • Regional Student – annual fee $30
    • Currently living in regional Australia and undertaking full-time study and have a student card
    • receive most of the membership benefits excluding a member profile in Screenworks online Member Directory nor work referrals.
  • Regional Concession– annual fee $30
    • Registered as unemployed with a concession card or receiving a pension with a concession card and living in regional Australia
    • receive most of the membership benefits excluding a member profile in Screenworks online Member Directory nor work referrals.
  • Regional Aspiring– annual fee $30
    • Living in regional Australia and creating screen content but no broadcast credits or festival screenings
    • receive most of the membership benefits excluding a member profile in Screenworks online Member Directory nor work referrals.

Metropolitan/International Screenworks Membership

Friends of Screenworks Membership

  • Regional Associates and Supporters – annual fee $45
    • Individuals who are interested in the screen industry and screen cultural activities but do not work directly in the screen industry
    • receive some membership benefits excluding a member profile in Screenworks online Member Directory, nor insurance discounts, nor work referrals.

Regional Australia Definition – Regional Australia refers to areas in each state and territory as defined below:

In NSW – regional areas are defined on the State Council map on the Screen NSW website, and includes all areas outside metropolitan Sydney and the ACT (http://www.screen.nsw.gov.au/page/maps/nsw-state-council-map).

In Queensland – regional areas are defined as a resident outside of South East Queensland, being defined as a 100 kilometre radius of the Brisbane or Gold Coast central business district.

In the ACT – all areas in the ACT.

In Victoria – regional areas are defined on the Regional Councils map on Film Victoria website – click on the following link, click on map search and select regional councils. (https://www.film.vic.gov.au/images/uploads/Map_of_Victorian_Regions.pdf).

In Tasmania – all areas in Tasmania.

In South Australia – regional areas are defined as a resident living outside of Adelaide, being more than a 50 kilometre radius from the Adelaide GPO.

In the Northern Territory – all areas in the Northern Territory.

In Western Australia – regional areas are defined by Screenwest in their Western Australian regional film fund and on the regional map on Screenwest website (https://www.screenwest.com.au/film-in-wa/locations/interactive-map/regions-of-wa/).
