Richard Mordaunt is one of Australia's most experienced documentary filmmakers, working as a writer / producer / director. He has produced award winning documentaries, often as collaborations with other filmmakers which have been shown worldwide, telling inspirational high interest stories.

Before arriving in Australia in 1979, his filmmaking began in the UK in 1965 when he established Lusia Films with his partner Henry Herbert. Using the first silent lightweight Eclair Camera, along with Peter Whitehead, he was one of the first independent filmmakers to capture these important changing times in the UK, making six ground-breaking films reflecting these times.

In 1979 he emigrated with his Australian born wife to Australia.

1980 STEPPING OUT. Directed and produced by Chris Noonan, Co-Produced by Richard Mordaunt and Jane Hanckel, Photographed by Dean Semler and Richard Mordaunt, Edited by Richard Mordaunt, Music by Keith Jarrett. This film was to become one of the most honoured films in Australian documentary history.

This was followed by a series of filmas about Australian artists made with his partner Diana Mordaunt, all shown on ABC TV.
