A public information evening will be held on June 15th at Bangalow Bowling Club for an open public discussion on a new proposal for our region – the creation of Byron Film Studios.

Byron Film Studios proposes to become the first regional Australian film studio establishing a fully functional facility with an 1000 sqm sound stage, permanent production space and offices, a range of transient offices to allow for pre-production and in-production projects, and post/editing grading suites offering an attractive alternative facility to the major four studios in Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and the Gold Coast.

Byron Film Studios aims to attract to our region both Australian and International productions: feature films in the budget range of $1 – $20 million, television series, documentaries, short films, television commercials and other affiliated industry and community based projects.

“With an already significant film and television personnel presence in the Northern Rivers region, Byron Film Studios seeks to enhance and capitalise on this intellectual property and opportunity.  Our aim is to establish a permanent and sustainable film and television industry in the region, providing consistent employment and significant capital input.” says Stephen Van Mil, of Bangalow Pictures.

The Public Information Evening to be held at Bangalow Bowling club on June 15th from 5.30- 7.30pm and will be presented by the four founding key executives:  Will Gammon,  Director Cumulus Visual Effects;  Stephen Van Mil, Co-Founder of Bangalow Pictures; Victoria Baldock, Director of Verve Entertainment and Mark Holden, Founder of R-evolution and Sourdough.

The evening will cover the aim and vision of the project, proposed infra-structure, value proposition and open public discussion.  Byron Film Studios are seeking widespread industry and regional feedback, expressions of interest and support from potential investors, collaborators, clients, local businesses and service providers.

“Local feedback and involvement is so very valuable to us.  Ensuring industry and community needs, concerns, requests and ideas are met is vital to Byron Film Studios becoming a successful venture creating a key business and employment hub for our region” says Victoria Baldock of Verve Entertainment
