Screenworks has also announced that tickets are now available for the Athena Career Forum, which will launch the program and will feature Gillian Armstrong as the key speaker. The forum is an opportunity for everyone to benefit from the valuable information and extensive advice that the guest speakers will provide.   It will also be an incredible opportunity to network with some of Australia’s leading female filmmakers. The forum will take place 5pm – 9pm on Tuesday 8 November at the Byron at Byron Resort.

Following the Athena Career Forum, the selected participants will spend two and a half days in an intensive residential program during which time they will receive advice from some of the most remarkable woman in the Australian screen industry, including Gillian Armstrong (Women He’s UndressedMy Brilliant Career) Felicity Packard (Janet King), Debbie Lee (Barracuda) and Cate McQuillen (dirtgirlworld).

As part of the residential program, participants will interrogate and finesse their career plans and workshop industry and career opportunities. Each of the state and territory funding bodies have committed to support the participants from their region by providing funds to help them implement the first 12 months of their career plans.

“Screenworks would like to thank our independent assessment panel who have helped us to identify some of Australia’s most talented up-and-coming female filmmakers who we believe will most benefit from The Athena Project.” said a spokesperson for Screenworks. “In particular we would like to thank Alexa Wyatt, Monica Davidson and Cate McQuillen for their help”.
