I spent the first 20 years of my adult life in the sound/music/radio/events industry (see below)
In 2011 I've changed focus to Documentary Filmmaking. This has guided my creative development and re-training since. AFTRS studies in Documentary, Cinematography and Colour Grading all feed this focus.
Am currently writing, developing and shooting Documentary projects that draw upon my life experience in music and technology based arts, utilising innovative multi-disciplinary intersections.
After a childhood obsessed with Photography, I composed electronic music and started an electronic arts collective Clan Analogue and a record label Zonar Recordings in the 1990s before producing & presenting national radio show Alchemy six nights a week on SBS Radio. I was then a Producer at legendary Melbourne community radio station Triple R, alongside DJing and launching a contemporary multi-cultural events business Uber Lingua that produced/promoted over 300 events between 2004-2012 including weekly/monthly residencies in Melbourne, Sydney and Hobart, alongside performances & AV spaces at major festivals including Sydney Festival, Darwin Festival, Adelaide Fringe and Falls Festival in Lorne Victoria.
Music and sound are still a strong motivator of my creativity. I have found that the skills and wisdom that come from previously working in other mediums and environments can be utilised in new creative endeavours, they just need a bit of re-contextualisation and an understanding of the new tools.
