Sold business (W.G Spice and Co Ltd) to London City interests in 1968. In 1969, having fallen foul of the law in the UK , Spice left to lead Safarisound discotheque expedition overland.. direction Australia. Disco equipment was sold to Oberoi Intercontinental, Delhi in May '70. Arrived Australia August '70. Met 1st Australian wife at the Melbourne Cup races.

Also built racing cars at Silverstone premises which, generally being driven by brother, Gordon, successfully competed in long distance sports car races such as Le Mans. This company was floated on the London Stock Exchange as Spice PLC in March 1986 with sales of £15M per year. Contemporaneously Spice met present partner, Jane Hanckel, in the the Sydney Opera House.

(1989) Founded Sunshine of Africa Ltd with Jane Hanckel to pioneer Cocoa Shell as a Garden Mulch. Administration was from the Isle of Wight but the operational centre was York UK using shell from the Nestlé factory. This cocoa shell was packed nearby and shipped to garden centres throughout the UK.. In 1996 Spice and Hanckel sold this business with sales of £1.5M to move to Australia looking for educational choices for their young family. This has lead to establishing and developing social initiatives through Inspired Education Pty Ltd and Spirit of Childhood Foundation Ltd.

Thus far the initiatives have been in early parent child relationships and the importance of natural environments for young children. A 3 part television series based on Hanckel and Spice’s research is now being considered for a television production.
