Claire is a director and screenwriter. In 2023, she won the Australian Directors’ Guild Award for Best Direction in a Feature Film, for THREE CHORDS AND THE TRUTH, which she also wrote. THREE CHORDS AND THE TRUTH was officially selected for the Sydney and Brisbane Film Festivals, as well as CinefestOz, before its national release in cinemas, distributed by Bonsai Films. The film is currently available to stream on Binge.

In 2022, Claire’s documentary BIG SKY GIRLS premiered at the Cinequest Film Festival in San Jose, followed by its Australian premiere at the Brisbane International Film Festival. BIG SKY GIRLS has screened on both SBS and NITV.

Currently, Claire is completing her true crime feature documentary THE POLICEWOMAN, which will be distributed by Bonsai Films in 2025. In addition to this, she is developing several other feature dramas and original TV series.

“The Director Pathways Program came at a pivotal time in my career. It was wonderful to have my first feature film, Three Chords and the Truth, released in the same year as me being part of the program, and to have Screenworks’ support to capitalise on the moment.

The program funding allowed me to pay for two writing courses with Sundance Collab. That helped me in my goals to complete a TV pilot and a feature length screenplay, with some incredible feedback. I also connected with Jocelyn Moorhouse – whose mentorship and advice has been invaluable – and we’ve stayed in touch.

The Director Pathways Program is an excellent opportunity for regionally based directors to connect with major industry players and get a grasp on their goals.”
