Career Pathway Programs
Our trio of Career Pathways Programs – Inside the Writers’ Room, Regional Producer Elevator and Director Pathways – provide invaluable support for regional filmmakers to gain industry experience and advance their screen careers.
Authentic
Over two editions in 2021 and 2024, Authentic has supported emerging filmmakers and filmmaking teams from North Queensland to produce 3-5 minute documentaries and microfilms for broadcast on ABC Online.
Taste of the Tropics
Exploring culture through cuisine for eager audiences across Australia, Taste of Tropics is an exciting initiative supporting mid-career screen practitioners in North and Far North Queensland produce compelling factual TV that showcases the tropical delights of the area.
AACTA Pitch: Regional Landscapes
AACTA Pitch: Regional Landscapes gives aspiring Australian creatives the chance to develop a feature film that celebrates idiosyncratically Australian stories inspired by our stunning regional areas. Year after year, alumni of this program have gone from aspiring to accomplished, with credits boasting global reach.
New Kids on the Block
Delivered with support from state and territory screen agencies, New Kids on the Block acknowledges the costs associated in attending our annual flagship event, Regional to Global, while addressing the anxiety of being a “new kid” at an industry event. The New Kids on the Block alumni we’re celebrating truly have gone from regional to global.
Regional Screen in LA
With unparalleled Hollywood access, Regional Screen in LA is a unique chance to gain experience working in Los Angeles, and a professional development opportunity for emerging creatives or crew practitioners who demonstrate significant potential and passion in their area of expertise.
Regional Crew Pathways
Backed by Netflix and delivered in partnership with AFTRS, Regional Crew Pathways supports regional people with aspirations to work in below the line roles turn their ambitions a reality. Beginning with AFTRS’s set-ready onboarding course, program participants then move to six-months, fully-paid crew roles on major productions.
APRA AMCOS Screen Composing Mentorship
Delivered by Screenworks, the APRA AMCOS Screen Composing Mentorship gives emerging regional composers the opportunity to be mentored by a seasoned professional, supporting them to develop their skills, build industry connections, showcase their talents and advance their careers.
