Followed by two online sessions

This is a staged story development program for mid-career regional Australian TV screenwriters who specifically want to develop a TV concept into a more pitchable project. 

Writer and story developer Nicole Dade will lead an in-person workshop followed by two online check-ins, to support selected regional screenwriters and creative producers to interrogate and polish their TV projects to the industry standard established by broadcast and streaming commissioning executives. 

At the close of the program, one of the participants will receive complimentary registration to Screenworks Regional To Global Conference where they will have the opportunity to meet with a Screen Industry professional to discuss their project.

  • Applications open 9am Monday March 18.
  • Applications close 9am Monday April 15. 
  • Successful applicants will be notified by Friday May 3.
  • Ten places will be selectively allocated.
  • Application materials will include:
    • CV and links to prior work.
    • The first 10 pages (max) of your screenplay.
    • A story synopsis which includes a log line, brief character descriptions and synopsis.
  • The 1 x day intensive workshop will take place in Ballina on Saturday May 25th. Participants will be required to book and pay for their own travel/accommodation. 
  • Successful participants will be required to sign an NDA to ensure confidentiality of all concepts and be prepared to present their story synopsis at the workshop.
  • The cost to selected applicants from NSW is $250 inc GST* which includes:
    • 1 day in person workshop, tuition and catering
    • follow up one on one, online 30 minute consultation with Nicole Dade
    • 1 group check in session
  • Applications are open to writers living in regional NSW. Definitions of regional areas can be found here.
  • After assessing the revised materials that have been developed through this workshop, the assessors will award a ticket to Screenworks Regional to Global conference in Lennox Head (31st July – 2nd August) and guarantee a 1:1 meeting with one a relevant guest speaker.

Nicole Dade is a writer, story developer, creative executive and script producer with 20 years' experience in development of scripted content in Australia and globally.

Nicole is a skilled story consultant and script editor across TV, film and online content. She contributes to story rooms as writer, script editor and script producer. She is highly regarded for her creative, commercial and strategic insight in development, and for her expertise in story and genre craft, including rom com, thriller, horror, war, sports and sci fi. Nicole has extensive experience working with writers, production companies, screen agencies and broadcasters in a creative and strategic capacity, from early stage development to production.

Committed to fostering and championing diverse stories and voices, Nicole has designed and led talent programmes in Australia, New Zealand and the UK and presents workshops, using her Elements of Story programme, which she designed to demystify the principles of screen storytelling.
