YOUR TV CAREER STARTS HERE
The Opportunity
Inside the Writers’ Room is Screenworks’ annual professional development program giving three early-career screenwriters from regional NSW the chance to observe a professional television writers’ room.
Participants will gain rare insights into the collaborative process behind TV drama or comedy, observing first-hand how professional writers develop stories from concept to screen.
How It Works
With the support of our partners, Easy Tiger, Jungle Entertainment (and a third production company soon to be announced), Screenworks will place three regional NSW screenwriters into writers’ rooms at these respected and prolific production companies.
Each selected writer will:
- Participate in an “Introduction to the Writers’ Room” zoom session hosted by the AWG in preparation for their in-person placement
- Spend a minimum of 3 days observing a professional writers’ room
- Be supported with flights, accommodation (up to five nights), and per diems
- Travel to the writers’ room location
- Share their learnings in a short written report at the program’s conclusion.
