Today Screenworks announce the four talented composers from regional NSW, Queensland and Victoria selected to take part in the 2019 Screen Composing Bootcamp; a tailored mentorship program supported by APRA AMCOS.
The selected composers will now work with an industry professional to complete the six-week Screen Composing Bootcamp and will also receive practical industry experience during a multi-day visit to shadow their mentors.
This is the second year that Screenworks and APRA AMCOS have partnered to deliver this initiative which is designed to give early career screen composers the opportunity to connect with and learn from some of Australia’s most respected screen composers.
The regional composers selected for this opportunity are (from left in photo):
Rosalind Hall from Dixons Creek, Victoria:
A musician and composer who creates performances, installations and soundtracks, Rosalind’s compositions have featured at a number of museums and festivals across the world including the National Gallery of Victoria, MONA and Dark Mofo. Rosalind will be mentored by Bryony Marks of inSync Music (2040, Barracuda, Summer Heights High).
Nolan Furnell from Dubbo, NSW:
Nolan has spent the last 15 years engaged in
various local music projects, most recently performing with indie-electronic
band, ERASER. After scoring locally-filmed documentary Pride Out West in 2018 he is about to undertake composing for a TV series
called To the End of the Earth.
Nolan will be mentored by Adam Gock, The D.A’s Office (Masterchef, Gogglebox).
Natalia Mann from Cairns, Queensland:
Natalia Mann is a harpist, composer, and resonance artist who has played around the world as a composer-performer, leader and band member. Presently based in Cairns, Natalia’s local work involves teaching, music therapy, synaesthesia, resonance music and film. Natalia will be mentored by Rhonda Davidson-Irwin (Outgoing CEO of Music Australia)
Brad Klenk from Alstonville, NSW:
Brad graduated
with a Bachelor of Audio from SAE Byron Bay in 2017. Since then he has
collaborated on several short films and documentaries with local film-makers including
A Way We Go (Urban Audiovisual
Festival, Portugal), Foil Man
(Flickerfest), and Clinton’s Walk For
Justice (NITV, SBS On Demand).
Brad will be mentored by Guy Gross (The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, East
West 101, Farscape).
