A writer, a guy from YouTube, the Bondi Hipsters, Skit Box, an Investment Manager from Screen Australia and an Executive Producer from the ABC will share their success strategies and give advice on how to trend on YouTube, how to create a web series and how to generate revenue from YouTube success.
Guest speakers at this one day seminar, Christiaan Van Vuuren (Bondi Hipsters), Adele Vuko (Skit Box), Mike Jones (Writer), Daniel Stephenson (YouTube), Mike Cowap (Screen Australia) and Que Min Luu (ABC) will give a broad range of perspectives on the key elements for creating successful content for YouTube.

Consultations on Friday afternoon August 18 and Saturday morning August 19.
Participants wanting to apply for a consultation must submit a script or treatment of their project, who they want to meet with and what they would like to achieve from the consultation. Application deadline midday Monday 14 August.
Spaces are limited and applicants will be selected by the guest speakers.

CHRISTIAN VAN VUUREN – BONDI HIPSTERS/SOUL MATES
Christiaan Van Vuuren is one of the creators, writers and directors of the multi-platform comedy series Soul Mates, which premiered on ABC in 2014. Soul Mates is a spin-off of the successful webseries Bondi Hipsters which Christiaan co-created with Nick Boshier, for which he won an ADG Award for Best Direction in an Original Online Project in 2013, and whose YouTube channel has hosted in excess of 8.5 million views. Both Christiaan and Nick won the 2014 GQ Award for Comedians of the Year.
Christiaan has directed comedy project including, The Elegant Gentleman’s Guide to Knife Fighting (TV), the webseries Skit Box and Eastern Suburbs Mums, and the viral Skit Box video Activewear. He has also written and directed content for brands including Old Spice, McDonalds, Vittoria, AMEX, Cadbury, Coca Cola, and Sony. Christiaan will next been seen on your screens in Top Of The Lake: China Girl and Ben Elton’s feature Three Summers.
ADELE VUKO – SKIT BOX
Adele has a strong background in acting, writing and production. She has starred on screen in television including Underbelly Razor, Deadbeat Dads sketch comedy shows Elegant Gentleman’s Guide To Knife Fighting & This Is Littleton and in the Australian film Not Suitable For Children. In 2014 she will also appear as the lead in the comedy feature Me And My Mates Vs The Zombie Apocalypse. She has trained at NIDA and ATYP in Sydney, and at The Acting Corps in Los Angeles. Her writing began with Short + Sweet, the worlds largest short play festival. Her plays went on from the Sydney based festival to win galas, and be produced in Short + Sweet festivals around the world including Dubai, Mumbai and Bangalore as well as the Fringe Comedy Festival in London. Adele works on various TV productions and TVC’s within Sydney, but her funniest project (apart from Skitbox) was producing the hit web series Bondi Hipsters.
MIKE JONES – WRITER
Mike Jones is a writer, script-editor and story producer working across screen, page & interactive media, and has worked in script development with ABC, WarnerBros, Fox, Porchlight, and Princess Pictures. He has also overseen long-form script labs for YouTube and is story consultant to ABC Signature studios in the US.
Mike is currently story producer on youth-drama series ‘Deadlock’ with EveryCloud Productions for ABC. He is regular collaborator with boutique TV production company, SweetPotatoFilms, working with showrunner Vicki Madden on the multi award-winning mystery drama series, ‘The Kettering Incident’ for Foxtel. And he served as script producer for the Long Story Short slate of iView original scripted comedy-drama projects for ABC and ScreenAustralia.
Mike was writer of the virtual reality detective-thriller ‘VRNoir: A Day Before the Night’ with StartVR which was short-listed for the International ProtoAward for most Innovative VR of 2016. He previously lead story development for multi-platform company Portal, developed scripted x-platform projects for WarnerBros, and served as a development consultant to ScreenAustralia.
Mike’s early career spanned writing for theatre, working as a screen industry journalist, and he previously lectured in story & writing at the Australian Film TV & Radio School.
DANIEL STEPHENSON – YOUTUBE
Daniel Stephenson works for YouTube as Content Partnerships Manager, working with the largest content creators in Australia & New Zealand. His role is to help these creators build their brand and achieve success on the platform.
MIKE COWAP – SCREEN AUSTRALIA
Mike Cowap has been a Development Manager with Screen Australia and a Project Manager with the Australian Film Commission since 2005, with responsibilities across animation, digital media, feature film, television series and documentary. Prior to this, Mike worked with the animation studio Monkeystack, where he produced 2D/3D animation and VFX for television commercials and shorts, and mobile phone content, documentary, websites and games. As Manager of Industry Development at the South Australian Film Corporation, Mike was responsible for programs and initiatives designed to strengthen South Australia’s film, television and digital media industries. Prior to emigrating from the UK in early 2003, Mike was coordinator of the short film initiatives and related training at the UK Film Council. Mike took this position after working for a number of years in independent feature film and television production in the UK.
