Adam Gock and John Gray will be coming to Bangalow on the 11th of April to talk about how they developed their careers and current opportunities for screen composers in Australia. This information and networking event is the perfect opportunity for screen composers and industry practitioners to gain insight into the industry and connect with early career screen composers.
This event will be held at St. Kevin’s Hall, on the 11th of April from 5pm. Starting with a short introduction from our guests and then opening up for a Q&A session before heading over the road to the Bangalow Hotel for refreshments and networking at 7pm.
Adam Gock is one of Australia’s most popular contemporary screen composers. In May 2006, Adam Gock and Dinesh Wicks established The D.A’s Office, a Music and Sound Design company for Film, Television, Radio and TVC. They have composed the music for Masterchef (Worldwide), Junior Masterchef, The Apprentice Australia, The Renovators, Sea Patrol, Ten News, Compass (Theme), as well as commercials for Qantas, Virgin, Instyle Magazine, Hyundai, Optus and many more. In 2017 Adam delivered a cutting edge workshop for screen composers through Screenworks and has now offered to mentor an emerging screen composer.
John Gray is a multi-award winning film composer, having written both orchestral and electronic scores for award winning feature films, documentaries and television – some of which have been finalists and winners at The Emmys, Sundance, Montreal, Venice, Berlin and Sydney international film festivals – to name a few. He was recently nominated for an AFI/AACTA for his score on the critically-acclaimed mini-series Blue Murder (2017). A screen-composition graduate of AFTRS, his drama features include the AFI-nominated Kokoda and What Lola Wants. He also recently composed for the acclaimed documentary The Opposition, the Emmy Award winning SBS series Go Back to Where You Came From, the ABC documentary series Great Southern Land and the documentary Audience Award Winner at the 2014 Sydney Film Festival Love Marriage in Kabul.
