29 May, 2025 – Screenworks has announced the 11 emerging regional screen practitioners (three from Queensland, six from NSW, and two from the ACT) who will be supported by Screenworks, in partnership with Screen Queensland, Screen NSW, and Screen Canberra to attend Regional to Global 2025 held at the Lennox Head Cultural Centre from 18-20 June.
The New Kids on the Block program is designed to address the anxiety of being a ‘New Kid’ at any event and provides in-person support for all successful applicants. The range of support includes introduction to other participants prior to and during the screen forum, a dedicated Screenworks’ staff member to answer questions and facilitate introductions to key delegates, a walk through of the venue and a guided read through of the program as well as early access to roundtable discussions, ongoing support through-out the screen forum and financial support for travel and accommodation.
Screenworks’ CEO Lisa O’Meara said:
“Congratulations to our 2025 New Kids On the Block participants. The volume and calibre of applications made it difficult for the assessors to choose the participants, so we know we have a great cohort coming through. I look forward to seeing the magic that happens when we bring them all together at this year’s Regional to Global.”
This year’s recipients include six from New South Wales – Tabatha Muzik (Hunter Valley), Lauren Paris (Northern Rivers), Declan Booth (Northern Rivers), Grace Bowman (Armidale), Elkie Chadwick (Corrimal), Courtney Watts (Rutherford).
Three applicants from Queensland were selected – Caden Pearson (Redlynch), Kimberley Greaves (Bayview Heights), and Andre Scholz (Edge Hill), and two from the ACT – Ruth Pieloor (Scullin) and Cooper Williams (Canberra).
Regional to Global is Screenworks’ premium event providing opportunities for participants to connect with key screen industry decision makers and other filmmakers. This three day annual event offers opportunities for attendees to pitch their talents and projects as well as seek collaborations and build industry connections that could advance their careers.
Guest speakers include some of Australia’s trailblazing screen producers as well as respected commissioners and agency representatives, award winning writers and directors. There will be interactive panel sessions, inclusive forum discussions, workshops, roundtable talks (bookings open midday, 3 June), one-on-one meetings and lots of pitching and networking opportunities.
Set in the beautiful beachside town of Lennox Head, NSW, which is only 15 minutes drive from world-famous Byron Bay, it will be a relaxed and picturesque setting to come together with screen industry professionals.
Screenworks’ New Kids on the Block program is supported by Screen NSW, Screen Queensland, and Screen Canberra.
