12 July, 2024 – Screenworks has announced the 15 emerging regional screen practitioners (five from Queensland, five from NSW, three from Tasmania and two from the ACT) who will be supported by Screenworks, in partnership with Screen Queensland, Screen NSW, Screen Tasmania, and Screen Canberra to attend Regional to Global 2024 held at the Lennox Head Cultural Centre 31 July – 2 August.

In addition to the financial support, the New Kids on the Block program helps to address the anxiety of being a ‘New Kid’ at any event, providing in-person support for all successful applicants.

Screenworks’ CEO Lisa O’Meara said: “We had a huge response to this year’s call out for the New Kids on the Block Program and it was a difficult decision whittling the group down to 15. We are thrilled to announce the recipients who will be joining us in Lennox Head from regional areas across the country and look forward to seeing how they leverage the possibilities this opportunity brings them.”

This year’s recipients include five from New South Wales – Chloe White (Moama), Jessi Le Brocq (Tamworth), Leearni Hamilton (Bungendore), Andy Johnston (Belford), and Lauren Booth (Kiama). Another five will attend from Queensland including Sam Pates (Cairns), Rebecca Anderson (Trinity Beach), John Doolan (Cairns), Beverley Marcusson (Pie Creek), and David Quarrell (Bargara). Three applicants from Tasmania were selected – Kyle Perry, Harry Radbone, and Jenni Klaus and two from the ACT – Linda Chen and Jessica Beange.

The selected participants receive $1000 to assist with the costs associated with registration to the event, travel and accommodation. In addition, they will be provided with a range of support including introduction to other participants prior to and during the conference and a dedicated Screenworks’ staff member to answer questions and facilitate introductions to key delegates.

Regional to Global is Screenworks’ three-day annual screen forum event. It provides attendees with an incredible networking opportunity that connects them with key industry decision makers and other filmmakers.

Guest speakers include some of Australia’s leading screen producers, sales agents, broadcasters, streamers and agency representatives. There will be interactive panel sessions, inclusive forum discussions, workshops, roundtable talks, one-on-one meetings and lots of pitching and networking opportunities.

Set in the beautiful beachside town of Lennox Head, NSW, access is easy by car from Northern NSW or South East Queensland or by air from further afield into Ballina airport.

Screenworks’ New Kids on the Block program are supported by Screen NSW, Screen Queensland, Screen Tasmania and Screen Canberra.
