Documentary Financing will provide filmmakers with the opportunity to hear about contemporary financing models and how to access Screen Australia’s funding for documentaries.

Come along and hear Liz Stevens, Senior Manager for Documentaries at Screen Australia, as she explains their guidelines for funding and support to documentary filmmakers as well as recent changes to Screen Australia’s documentary funding programs.

Following Liz’s presentation, she will be joined by a panel of local and visiting BBFF documentary filmmakers for a lively discussion about current documentary financing models and funding sources. Hear about the success and challenges they faced with different financing models for the production of their recent films.

From crowd-funding to philanthropic donations and on to international investments – the options for financing documentaries are manifold and evolving fast. Come along and find out what financing model will best suit your next documentary project!

Liz Stevens runs Screen Australia’s documentary unit and has been in this role for about 8 years. As the senior manager, Liz is responsible for the documentary slate, programs, initiatives and strategy and is part of Screen Australia’s senior leadership team. Prior to the creation of Screen Australia, Liz was a Business Affairs Manager at Film Australia. With a background as an independent producer, Liz has worked with script development, film finance, production, marketing and distribution on both factual and drama projects.
