“The demand for crew this year has been unprecedented,” explained Screenworks CEO Ken Crouch. “We are getting numerous calls a day from Production Managers and Line Producers seeking crew and we just don’t have enough skilled people to fill all the opportunities.
“Since August this year, we have had two feature films and two TV series shooting in the Northern Rivers and as they wrap we are receiving more enquiries for 2021. It doesn’t look like the demand is going to decline.”
Screenworks has always maintained a directory of its members, but the newly created Northern Rivers Crew Database is a purpose-built resource that contains the details of experienced crew in the Northern Rivers in an easily searchable online format. Screenworks Northern Rivers Database is separate to the National Membership Directory which contains details of members Australia-wide irrespective of their experience.
Applications to Screenworks’ Northern Rivers Crew Database are now open. If you have at least one paid, verifiable, professional screen industry credit (film, television, commercial, animation or video game) and are a Screenworks member simply jump on to Screenworks website and apply to be on Screenworks Northern Rivers Crew Database.
The Northern Rivers region of NSW has the highest number of screen industry practitioners and services outside the major metropolitan centres and is a popular filming destination. Screenworks’ database has been designed to make it easier to crew up productions in the Northern Rivers.
