Screenworks has today opened applications for screen directors living in regional NSW and regional Queensland to apply for the Screenworks Directing Intensive. Through the support of the Australian Directors’ Guild, two of Australia’s most renowned and critically acclaimed screen directors, Rowan Woods and Jennifer Peedom, will lead the 2-day workshop which will take place in Northern NSW on 22nd and 23rd July 2021.
During the two-day program, Rowan and Jennifer will advise up to twelve selected regional screen directors on technique, skills and project development for drama and documentary film and television. The guest tutors will address creative process and techniques for directing documentary and drama for film and television. This will be a supportive environment where the participants can develop their skills and test ideas under the guidance of highly experienced industry professionals

This two-day program is being delivered in partnership with the Australian Directors’ Guild (ADG) and with support from Screen NSW, as well as support from Screen Queensland for two participants from regional Queensland. The deadline for applications is 11 June 2021, with selected participants being notified in mid-June.
To be eligible for the Screenworks 2-Day Directing Intensive, applicants must demonstrate some experience directing content for screen and must be living in regional NSW or regional Queensland.

Screenworks also recently announced a new online event, Low Budget Financing For Drama, which will take place on Tuesday 8 June which will explore innovative and alternative ways of financing low budget drama productions. The online webinar event is available to all practitioners across Australia.
Facilitated by Andrea Ulbrick from Screen NSW, the online session will look at two case studies – The Furies and Sweet River – and will feature an extended conversation with producers Lisa Shaunessy and Ashley McLeod about each of their productions.
