Finn Clarke from Allens Rivulet in Tasmania has been announced as the recipient of Screenworks Regional Screen In LA Program supported by Australians in Film (AiF). Screenworks and AiF have selected Finn to undertake a four-week bespoke program that will give him with a unique chance to gain experience working as a screen composer in Los Angeles.
Screenworks CEO Ken Crouch said, “Having opened the Regional Screen In LA Program this year to creatives and crew in all areas of the screen sector, Finn represents the talented individuals working in our industry outside the big cities. During his career, Finn has been commissioned by the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra, the Australian Youth Orchestra, ABC, PBS, Tourism Tasmania and various independent filmmakers and artists.
“We were particularly impressed by Finn’s application to the program, where he had proactively researched what Los Angeles has to offer in the screen composer space to take advantage of while there and had already established a network of people willing to meet with and mentor him. We look forward to supporting him during this opportunity and in the future.”

On receiving the news that he had been selected for this opportunity, Finn Clarke said “I am so grateful and excited to be selected for the 2023 Regional Screen in LA Program! This amazing opportunity will allow me to develop my skills and experience as a screen composer and connect with other creatives in the huge artistic hub that is the American film industry.”
“In Los Angeles, I’ll be going behind the scenes with my composing heroes, participating in several screen scoring workshops, attending numerous music and film events, and meeting fellow creatives in the industry. Tasmania is an emerging film scene with few screen composers, so I’m excited to travel to LA to dive into a much larger international industry and learn from some of the best in the business. Ultimately, I hope this experience will grow our Tasmanian media music scene and help tell our important regional stories.”
With a background spanning classical violin and folk fiddle, location sound recording and audio post-production, his music blends detailed instrumental writing with processed electronics and environmental sounds. Finn’s work can be seen in film, TV, documentary, advertising, art installations and classical music concerts.
As part of the Regional Screen In LA Program, Finn will receive the following:
- a return economy airfare to Los Angeles and support in the lead-up to the internship to arrange travel and secure the appropriate visa.
- a USD$4,000 accommodation assistance and living allowance to help cover rent, food and transport costs while in Los Angeles for 4-weeks.
- AiF will provide support and access while working in Los Angeles for four weeks, plus pre-recommendations, LA industry support & networking, including a welcome to LA lunch.
- Finn will also receive a complimentary 12-month industry membership to AiF, providing them unlimited access to AiF screenings and education programming while in Los Angeles, including desk access to Charlie’s 24|7.
This is the third year that Screenworks has run a Regional Screen In LA Program with AiF. The most recent recipient Chanel Bowen from Dunsborough in Western Australia is currently undertaking a two-month internship in Los Angeles with Animal Logic Entertainment as part of the Screenworks’ Regional Screen In LA Program.

About Finn Clarke
Finn Clarke is a screen composer based in Tasmania, Australia. With a background spanning classical violin and folk fiddle, location sound recording and audio post-production, his music blends detailed instrumental writing with processed electronics and environmental sounds. Finn’s work can be seen in film, TV, documentary, advertising, art installations and classical music concerts.
