Are you a Southern Cross University student or recent graduate interested in a career in Film/TV as a Writer,  Producer or Director? Are you thinking about becoming a Digital Content Producer,  Marketing Director or Social Media Manager? Or perhaps you’d like to explore potential job opportunities in Games, Animation or VR?

Screenworks in partnership with Southern Cross University is offering two Screen Media industry mentorship places to recent SCU graduates (2021, 2022, 2023) and students in their 2nd or 3rd year of study (i.e. who have completed at least 8 units) in Screen Media and related disciplines (Music, Art & Design, Writing, Digital Media) at Southern Cross University.

The mentorships will provide two students with 3 x one-hour consultations with a screen industry professional in their chosen field of interest. The mentors will be highly regarded professionals actively working in the screen industry and each mentorship will be tailored to the individual participant according to the career interests and ambitions specified in their applications.

Applications will open on September 6th 2023 and will close at 0900 October 3rd 2023.

This opportunity would suit 2nd or 3rd year students or recent graduates who are looking to get practical advice and/or more hands-on experience in a particular area of screen industry work. The mentorships can include targeted career conversations about working in film, TV, digital production, animation, games or AR/VR, as well as hands-on experience of particular areas of work such as directing, producing, writing, camera, sound, production design, and digital media.

Practical work experience such as working on set, in a production office or edit suite may also be arranged as part of the mentorships at the mentor’s discretion.

The selection committee will be looking for motivated students who have achieved outstanding results in their studies, who show a commitment to pursuing a career in the screen media industry.

Assessments will be completed in consultation with the Southern Cross University Chair of Creative Arts and Screenworks executives. The mentorship sessions will take place before the end of 2023, subject to the availability of suitable mentors.
