Screenworks, together with the generous support of Julie Hanna, ABC Commissioning Editor – Screen, Documentary and Specialist, are offering a six-month mentorship with Julie to one lucky regional documentary filmmaker.

Those attending Screenwork’s Regional to Global 2025 will have the chance to apply for this enriching mentorship program with Julie Hanna through six 30-minute online sessions which will take place once a month over the course of six months.

Julie comes with a wealth of experience and knowledge, not only as a commissioning editor for the ABC within the documentary and specialist department, but also as a top producer.

She will provide one lucky mentee with invaluable career advice along with project advice to equip them with the necessary skills to further their profession as a documentary filmmaker. 

What’s included:

  • 6 x 30-minute one-on-one Zoom meetings taking place once per month over 6 months according to Julie Hanna’s availability.
  • Tailored and practical advice for documentary filmmakers.
  • A connection with a well-established professional working in the screen industry.

Julie has worked extensively as an Executive Producer, Series Producer and Director across a wide range of genres.  Before starting at the ABC, Julie worked in the independent production sector at KEO Films Australia as Head of Development, ITV as an Executive Producer and at the Seven Network and at SBS.
