This event is designed to inform composers, musicians, screen producers and screen content creators on how to compose and compile music for screen productions.
Caitlin Yeo has composed the music on over 40 film projects including the critically acclaimed feature film The Rocket. Caitlin will share her process for getting from brief to final score and reveal the inspiration and journey behind the original music for The Rocket. Learn how she responds to the challenges of a musical brief, and her process of composition through an in-depth look at the anatomy of a cue.
Norman Parkhill has over 30 years industry experience, working in music publishing, recording, artist management, artists and repertoire (A&R) and music supervision. As a senior musical supervisor he places original compositions, works with musicians and sources music to place in film and television productions. He will discuss the creative side of music supervision as well as explore the copyright and contracts. Norman will also advise how local musicians can get their music placed in films and television programs and how to connect with screen directors.
Together, Caitlin and Norman will explain how the music supervisor, screen composer, director and producer work together to create music for screen productions.

About the presenters:
CAITLIN YEO
Caitlin Yeo has composed the music on over 40 film projects including the critically acclaimed feature film The Rocket, prime time channel 7 tele-movies The Killing Field, All My Friends are Leaving Brisbane documentaries Bomb Harvest, The Great Australian Race Riot, Blown and Footy Chicks and the children’s television series Tashi and The Eggsperts.
Since graduating from Screen Composition at AFTRS in 2003, Caitlin has won numerous awards; two APRA-AGSC Screen Music Awards (2013 Feature Score of the Year for The Rocket, and 2007 Best Music for a documentary for Bomb Harvest), the APRAProfessional Development Award, (which garnered her a spot at the prestigious ASCAPFilm and TV Scoring Workshop in Los Angeles), the 2013 FCCA (Film Critics CircleAward) for The Rocket, and best music for Photocopier at both the LA Reel FilmFestival and the 20th WOW Film Festival. Caitlin has also received three other APRA-AGSCScreen Music nominations (2008, 2010 and 2012), and a 2014 AACTA nomination forBest Original Score for The Rocket.
Caitlin is also a lecturer at AIM (The Australian Institute of Music) in Composition, Production and Film Music Theory.
NORMAN PARKHILL
Norman Parkhill has over 30 years industry experience, working in music publishing, recording, artist management, artists and repertoire (A&R) and music supervision.
Currently, Norman is engaged on the music supervision for the third series of ABC TV’s Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries, Network Ten’s third series of Wonderland and the forthcoming feature film Down Under. He has also recently completed music supervision on Channel 9’s second series of Love Child.
In 2005 he established inSync Music, which provides specialist music services for film, TV and advertising. inSync offers a comprehensive range of services from sourcing and contracting the right composer to producing the soundtrack album and publishing the musical works.
As music supervisor his extensive feature credits include: Tracks 2014, Kenny 2006, Candy 2006 and Somersault 2004. His television feature credits include: Wonderland (series 1-2), Top of the Lake 2013 and Packed to the Rafters (series 1-6) 2013-2008, and Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries (series 1-2) 2013-2012. He has also produced or co-produced numerous soundtrack albums.
Norman’s broad experience in commercial music publishing and recording gives him a well-rounded musical perspective in addition to a solid grasp of the complexities of music supervision, copyright research and licence negotiation.
