Screenworks has created a series of ‘members only’ events to help members prepare their pitching documents to attract market interest.
Screenworks will also give members an opportunity to have their early development concepts pitched at this year’s Screen Producers Australia Conference in November.
Pitching Workshop

Film and television distribution expert Victoria Baldock will run a 3 hour workshop on how to prepare a pitch and one page pitch document in order to secure broadcast, producer and funding interest.
This workshop will assist writers, producers and content creators prepare material to submit for Screenworks to pitch at the Screen Producers Association conference in November. In preparation, participants need to submit a one page pitching document prior to the workshop.
The workshop will cover:
- Creating a very targeted pitch document
- The importance of the One Liner
- Creating and producing content to market trends & needs or to be true to your story
- Identifying market needs and tailoring your pitch as such
- How to be true to your pitch while still communicate your flexibility
- Saying as much by what you don’t say that what you do
- The pitch process.. what happens when your pitch document is successful .. or not.
What you need to have prepared:
- a draft one page pitch document, to be submitted by 5pm Monday Sept 28 – using Pitching Document template
- a budget overview document which includes production expenditure and proposed financing
- a verbal 2 minute pitch

The Pitching Workshop will be followed up a week later with one on one consultations with Victoria, where she will give specific advice on participants pitching documents and content. The Pitching Clinic is by appointment only, with limited places available. Screenworks will be taking bookings for the Pitching Clinic following the Pitching Workshop.

Screenworks will be attending the Screen Producers conference in Melbourne to represent our members and attract production to the region. We will be setting up meetings with producers and broadcasters and expect to submit for Ready Steady Pitch with a view to pitching early development concept from our members.
Screenworks is calling for expressions of interest from members who have concepts in early development and are seeking market interest. Screenworks will select the pitches to take to SPA from the submissions and recommendations that come through the pitching clinic and one on ones.
If you have a concept in early development and are looking for broadcast interest and /or a producer, Screenworks could pitch your concept at SPA for you.
If your submission is accepted for Screenworks the following is provided:
- Screenworks will set up meetings with relevant producers and executives at SPA to pitch members content.
- Screenworks will display members short pitches on our website with a link to their one page pitch document
- Screenworks will provide the participating members with feedback from the meetings.
- Screenworks will provide the contact details and an introduction to the relevant producers and executives from the meetings if there is interest in the pitch
- Screenworks will give each participant a feedback report from the meetings
Victoria Baldock

Having been in media sales for over 20 years – in airtime sales, PR and international distribution – Victoria Baldock has pitched a great many projects to a great many broadcasters.
As Head of of International Sales for Southern Star between 1997 – 2004, Victoria contracted millions of dollars worth of licensing agreements – placing thousands of hours of content with broadcasters all over the globe – The America’s, Europe, Eastern Europe, Asia, Middle East, Africa, Australia and New Zealand.
In 2004, Victoria founded Verve Entertainment, an independent boutique distribution company representing over 60 Producers including The Seven Network, Beckers, Granada, Distraction Formats, Engine Entertainment and a great number of independent producers including Quail Television (Aust), Vokyo Entertainment (Aust) , Screendoor (Canada) , Freehand (Aust), Black Diamond (UK), Comedy Time (US) and Top Shelf (New Zealand)
In 2013 Verve Entertainment’s focus shifted from placing projects internationally- to representing international catalogues into Australia and New Zealand. Currently Verve is enjoying a further shift, evolving as a Distribution Manager, working in consultancy with Producers preparing their projects for International Distribution, preparing pitch, marketing and deliverable materials and placing projects with the most suitable distribution partners in Australia and Internationally.
