In response to the negative impacts on the Australian screen industry created by the COVID-19 pandemic, Screenworks has announced a COVID-19 Response Small Grants Program specifically for Regional NSW practitioners and businesses, funded by repurposing existing funding provided by the NSW State Government through Screen NSW.

The small grants program will provide up to $750 to support screen practitioners and businesses in regional NSW to access professional support that may include:

  • professional development opportunities for regional screen practitioners (eg. Online workshops or training) that will increase their knowledge, skills and experience
  • access to business advice for freelancers or companies to help overcome the impacts of COVID-19 and how to recover after the crisis is over, or
  • engaging screen industry consultants (eg. Script assessment) to support the development of projects that have received initial market interest that have the potential to create regional NSW screen jobs in the future.

This list is not exhaustive – Screenworks is open to receiving applications with out-of-the-box ways to support screen practitioners living in regional NSW during this period when the industry is dealing with the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Upon completion, each selected recipient will be required to deliver a report detailing the opportunities that the program has supported and how this has influenced their professional or skills development.

Applications are open to all screen practitioners who are living and working in Regional NSW. In NSW – regional areas are defined on the State Council map on the Screen NSW website and include all areas outside metropolitan Sydney and the ACT.
